JAMF Celebrates Fifth Year of Grant Making
The year 2025 marked the fifth grant cycle for the Judith Ann Mogan Foundation (JAMF). In the span of 5 years, the Foundation awarded over $7.3 MM in grants, supporting 208 projects that benefited south coast communities and individuals. JAMF is pleased to have partnered with 189 organizations to deliver services, invest in capital improvements, support staff, implement programming and even take chances at funding pilot projects and new entities working on the South Coast.

From 2021 through 2025, grants were funded for projects that aligned with JAMF’s 7 priority areas: Arts & Culture, Children & Youth, Community Health, Convening & Gathering Places, Economic Development, Environment & Natural Resources, and Poverty Alleviation. Close to 50% of all grants were in Community Health and Children & Youth, which together received over $3.5MM in five years. Convening & Gathering Places and Economic Development were each awarded a little over $1MM in the same period. Arts & Culture and Environment & Natural Resources were granted less than other priority areas, though still considered meaningful.

As part of its mission to “Develop successful citizens and vital communities” on the Southern Oregon Coast, JAMF awards grants to Oregon nonprofits and other publicly funded entities with projects that benefit Coos, Curry, and Coastal Douglas County communities. A few of the projects approved in the past 5 years that spanned most of its service area include: 1) upgrade/maintenance of pools in Reedsport, North Bend, Coos Bay and Brookings; 2) senior center programming and meals in North Bend, Myrtle Point, Powers, Gold Beach and Brookings; 3) library upgrades in North Bend, Coos Bay, Coquille and Langlois; 4) technical assistance to small businesses from Reedsport to Brookings; 5) ADA supportive investments in kayak launches, playgrounds and elevators in Coos and Curry counties; and 6) community engagement through arts, history and music in North Bend, Coos Bay, Coquille, Bandon, Port Orford and Brookings. The graph below shows total disbursements by county for the years 2021 through 2025. Some grants reported under Coos County also benefited other South Coast counties, e.g. HIV Alliance Basic Needs Supplies, Knight Cancer Patient Support, Telestroke Program for Rural Health, Oregon Coast Echo Lab Equipment, Every Child Coos/Curry, CASA, Housing Continuum in the South Coast, etc.

Strategic partnership is an important component of the Foundation’s mission.
